FDA Regulations On HGH In OTC Market

HGH or human growth hormone is a type of treatment that is used by people to combat the unwanted effects of aging, among other things. It works by replicating the functions of the growth hormone which is produced by the body’s natural growth hormone. Being anabolic in nature, the effects of HGH therapy or HRT are more commonly related to building up. It has become widespread as an anti-aging remedy and is used by a lot of people throughout the United States.

However, studies have been inconclusive when it comes to the adverse side effects of this type of treatment. It has had its fair share of criticism all the way from its inception and it continues to be battered with all sorts of issues and controversies.

Nonetheless, a majority of these accusations actually have very little to no evidence pointing to the fact that HGH or HRT is factually dangerous to human health.

Legality

Technically speaking, HGH and HRT have been deemed legal by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In fact, it has even been classified as a non-prescription drug which means that an individual can very easily purchase HGH products over the counter.

However, as with most drugs in the US, selling and distributing HGH and HRT products without a license is punishable by federal law.

Nonetheless, interested parties should note that the legality of HGH is not entirely all-encompassing. That is, there are still a number of HGH products that require a prescription from a registered physician. Some HRT products cannot and should not be sold to individuals that are unable to present a valid prescription simply because it is illegal. To make things a bit clearer, oral HRT products as well as creams are usually available for purchase OTC, without a prescription.

This is perfectly legal. However, more controversial HRT procedures such as HGH injections can only be administered by physicians. The grey area in between can definitely breed confusion among consumers. This is why it requires extra care and caution in one’s search for an effective and legal HGH product, be it OTC or otherwise.

Why All The Fuss?

By now, one might be asking why this particular substance seems to breed a whole lot of unwanted controversy. After all, it’s just another anti-aging drug, isn’t it? Well, the short answer to this question is no.

HGH is unlike any other run of the mill anti-aging drug for two primary reasons:

First, its effects are purportedly the best in the market in that no other natural anti-aging drug is able to match HGH’s effectiveness in bringing back the vitality, energy, and all the other positive benefits associated with youth.

Secondly and more importantly, the side effects of HGH (including its improper use) are equally more adverse than other anti-aging drugs out there.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pains, joint swelling, and increased diabetic risks are just some of the moderate side effects of excessive HGH. However, some studies claim that at its worst, the improper application of HGH and HRT can actually lead to untimely death among patients.
